SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CONTRACT AMENDMENT AGREEMENTS--NO. 20-736-1 and
NO. 20-737-1
SPECIFIC REOUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Social Service Department Director
or his designee to sign Contract Amendment Agreement No.
20-736-1, with Shelter, Inc. , and Contract Amendment
Agreement No. 20-737-1, with Volunteers of America Bay Area,
Inc. , which increases the contract limits from $24, 800 to
$124, 800 and increases the term of the Contract from November
28, 1988, to April 30, 1989.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
These funds are from the General Assistance budget. The
expenditure of these funds will provide a savings in the
Emergency Assistance component of the General Assistance
Program.
BACKGROUND:
In November 1988, the Board approved the WINTER RELIEF
PROGRAM AND HOMELESSNESS order which authorized the Social
Service Director to utilize National Guard armories as
appropriate to shelter the homeless during the Winter Relief
Program. A Short Form Service Contract was entered into to
expedite an advance payment in order to open the shelters as
soon as possible. The Department was unable to meet the
deadline for the November Board order agendas.
