SUBJECT:La Cheim School , Inc. for Intensive Medi-Cal Day Treatment
Program Services for Mentally Disturbed Children and Adolescents
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I . RECOMMENDED ACTION :
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute on behalf of the
County, Novation Contract #24-133-21 with La Cheim School , Inc.
in the amount of $610 , 662 for the period July 1 , 1988 through
June 30 , 1989 for provision of intensive Medi-Cal day treatment
services in a school setting for mentally disturbed children and
adolescents . This document includes a six-month automatic
.contract extension from June 30 , 1989 through December 31 , 1989
in the amount of $305 , 331 .
II . FINANCIAL IMPACT :
This contract is fully funded in the Health Services Department
Budget for FY 1988-89 (Org. #5952 ) , including an $ 11 , 928 cost-
of-living increase which was provided by the Board of
Supervisors for Contractor ' s employee salaries and wage-related
cost increases . The Contract Payment Limit also includes a
$ 122 ,040 increase in Federal Medi-Cal funding which became
available on July 1 , 1988 , when Contractor began operating its
intensive day treatment program under State certification as a
Short-Doyle Medi-Cal provider . This increase in Federal funding
serves to maximize the Federal Medi-Cal revenues which are
available at no additional cost to the County.
The Contract places the Contractor at risk for serving a suf-
ficient number of Federally-eligible clients to earn the Federal
Medi-Cal revenue shown below in the intensive day treatment
program budget . The Contract Payment Limit is funded by Federal
Medi-Cal funds , State Short-Doyle Mental Health funds , and
' County funds , estimated as follows :
