(WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEVICE REGISTRATION FEES)
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors ordains as
follows (omitting the parenthetical footnotes from the official
. text from the enacted or amended provisions of the County
Ordinance Code) ;
Section I. Summary. This ordinance amends section 522-
2.406 to conform to Business and Professions Code section 12210,,
which specifies the measuring devices subject to inspection, and
to -conform to Business and Professions Code section 12240 which
exempts certain devices from the measuring device registration
fee. This ordinance adds section. 522-2.405 to establish a
penalty upon failure to pay the device registration fee.
Section II . Section 522-2 .406 is amended to read:
522-2 . 406 Devices . Subject Devices . All weights,
scales, beams, measures of any kind, instruments or mechanical
devices for weighing or measuring, and tools, appliances and
accessories connected with any or all such instruments or
measures, sold, or used by any proprietor, agent, lessee or
employee for commercial purposes, as defined in Business and
California Professions Code section 12500, are subject to
inspection and testing by the County Sealer (director) .
(b) Houses . For electric and vapor meters, each house or
mobile home is considered a location, except in a mobile home
park or apartment complex where the park or complex is considered
one location.
Exemptions . No fees are chargeable for livestock
scales, animal-scales, farm milk tanks, and scales used Primarily
for weighing feed and seed.

Section III . Section 522-2 .405 is added to read:
522-2 . 405 Late Fee. Upon failure to pay the annual fee
within sixty days after it is due and payable, a late fee in the
amount of 100% of the prescribed annual fee shall be added to the
prescribed annual fee and shall be due and payable. '

Section IV. Effective Date. This ordinance becomes
effective 30 days after passage, and within i5 days after passage
shall be published once with the names of supervisors voting for
and against it in the Contra Costa Times, a` newspaper published
in this County. (§§ 25123 & 25124 )

AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Torlakson, Schroder.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Supervisor McPeak .
ABSTAIN: None.
