HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12201988 - 1.31 - 1 C5 / IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Commending) The Senior Tutors For Youth) Resolution No. : 88/879 In Detention ) On Their Sixth Anniversary ) WHEREAS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention sally forth from Rossmoor once a week all year to tutor youth at the Byron Boys' Ranch and the Boys' Treatment Center; and , WHEREAS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention give generously of their time, talents and life experiences as they both tutor and lend a kind listening ear to young men incarcerated in the County's boys' facilities; and WHEREAS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention donate more than their time to educationally troubled youth by such gifts as a computer for the sole youth of the tutors and their pupils at the Byron Boys' Ranch; and WHEREAS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention are much more than volunteer teachers as they both work on areas of the students' schooling that need special attention and give a boost to the boys' self-esteem by their kind and understanding presence; and WHEREAS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention serve as remarkable role models to other retired people as they reach out to troubled boys in Contra Costa County with their hearts, their hands and their minds. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa California, hereby COMMENDS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention for their generous donation of their time and talents, CONGRATULATES the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention as their program completes its sixth successful year, and THANKS the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention for their exceptional dedication to a sometimes forgotten segment of our County's young men. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors EXTENDS to the Senior Tutors for Youth in Detention its best wishes for the continued success of the program. Passed and adopted on December 20, 1988, by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
