HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12131988 - T.9 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA T. 8 & T. 9 Adopted this Order on December 13 , 1988 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, McPeak, Torlakson and Schroder NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None Subject: Hearings On Appeals By Walnut Creek City Council From The Decisions of the Contra Costa County Planning Commission Relative To Development Plan 3012-88 and Development Plan 3019-88 In The Pleasant Hill BART Station Area. The Board of Supervisors on November 29, 1988, continued to this date the hearings on the appeals by the Walnut Creek City Council from the decision of the Contra Costa County Planning Commission approving the request by Merle Gilliland (applicant) and Treat Corners Partnership (owner) for approval of two office buildings with a combined total of 375,000 square feet (Development Plan 3012-88) and the decision of the Contra Costa County Planning Commission approving the request by Lauren S. Ward (applicant) and Taylor/Ward Properties (owner) for an amended Final Development Plan for a six-story office building plus penthouse over a lobby and parking (Development Plan 3019-88) in the Pleasant Hill BART Station area. Supervisor McPeak advised the Board that they have had information submitted to them that the current Pleasant Hill BART Station area at 3. 2 million square feet would meet the planning objective of one hundred percent capacity and further cited awareness that there is some sentiment of the BART Board to perhaps reduce the density at the BART Station. She commented on the positive discussions taking place with the City of Walnut Creek relative to cooperative planning and expressed a need for continuing discussion. The public hearing was closed. Supervisor McPeak moved the action of denying the appeals from the City of Walnut Creek and approving the recommendations of the Planning Commission. Supervisor Fanden seconded the motion. Karl Wandry, Community Development Department, requested that the motion be amended to have the Board declare its intent to deny the appeals and approve the recommendations of the Planning Commission with final documentation to be brought back next week for the Board' s consideration. Therefore, IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors hereby DECLARES ITS INTENT to DENY the appeals of the Walnut Creek City Council relative to Development Plans 3012-88 and 3019-88 and APPROVE the recommendations by the Contra Costa County Planning Commission relative to the development plan approvals; and the Community Development Department is DIRECTED to prepare the appropriate documentation for Board consideration on December 20, 1988. 1 hereby certify that this is a true and correct Copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Su sora on the date shown.
