Department Personnel Officer
Attached is a P-300 to classify one P. I . Security Guard position
without offset , effective 10/28/87. This action' is requested to
reduce the impact of a layoff among Security Guards caused by the
following circumstances.
One of our full time Security Guards has been off duty- since early
1986, for a variety of medical problems. During the interim, all
permanent vacancies were filled in order to meet service needs.
Recently, this individual received clearance to- return to full and
unrestricted duty, thus creating a layoff situation among the Security
Guards . Addition of this P. I . position will enable us to retain all
current employees on the staff. Otherwise the part time Security
Guard will be laid off "out the door" , by virtue of being displaced
from his position by a more senior employee. No additional costs will'
be incurred by the addition of this position because the available
work will be shared between the n-ew position and the current existing
P. I . position.
Your expeditious consideration of this request is appreciated.
