HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01201987 - T.3 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, 'CALIFORNIA T.3 Adopted this Order on January 20 , 1987 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, Fanden, Torlakson and McPeak NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Schroder ABSTAIN: None -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBJECT: Proposed Ordinance on Hazardous Materials Release Response Plans and Inventory Program and Hearing on Hazardous Materials Fee Schedule. The Board on December 16 , 1986 expressed a desire to con- sider adoption of the proposed ordinance on Hazardous Materials Release Response Plans and Inventory Program in conjunction with the hearing on the Hazardous Materials Fee Schedule fixed for this date; and Mark Finucane, Director of Health Services, requested postponement of a decision on the plan for a week. The Chairwoman opened the public hearing. No one appeared in opposition. Supervisor Powers commented on the growers' concerns in West County with the different interpretation from County to County for AB 2185 , and moved to continue the matter for one week. John Ginocchio, President of the Farm Bureau, commented on regulations such as these tending to deter the viability of agri- culture in the county and the lack of clarity in interpreting the ordinance. Supervisor Torlakson recommended that this matter be con- tinued for two weeks and suggested that the Health Services Director and the Agricultural Commissioner meet with the Farm Bureau and the Cattlemen' s Asociation and other interested persons . Supervisor Powers amended his motion to continue the matter two weeks. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the hearing on proposed fee schdule for funding the Hazardous Materials Release Plans and Inventory Program (AB 2185) and the adoption of the ordinance ( introduced December 9 , 1987 is CONTINUED to February 3, 1987 at 10 : 30 a.m. ; and the Health Services Director and the County Agricultural Commissioner are DIRECTED to meet with the Farm Bureau and the Cattlemen's Association and other interested parties.
