Spooner, Contracts Administrator Costa DATE: January 8, 1987 County SUBJECT: Approve submission of Grant Application 429-340 to The San Francisco Foundation requesting funding for the Juvenile Justice Health Education Component of the TeenAge Program (TAP) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve submission of Grant Application 429-340, on behalf of the County, to The San Francisco Foundation requesting funding for the Juvenile Justice Health Education Component of the TeenAge Program (TAP) in the amount of $50,000 for the period April 1, 1987 - March 31, 1988, plus $50,000 for the period April 19 1988 - March 31, 1989. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Approval of this Grant Application by The San Francisco Foundation will result in $100,000 of Foundation funding for the Juvenile Justice Health Education Component of the TeenAge Program (TAP) . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: In order to meet The San Francisco Foundation's deadline for submission of grant applications, on December 19, 1986 the Department sent copies of Grant Application #29-340 to The Foundation, but subject to approval by the County Board of Supervisors. The Department is requesting two consecutive years of funding from The Foundation in order to develop and implement a Juvenile Justice Health Education Component of the TeenAge Program (TAP). The purpose of the Juvenile Justice Component of the TeenAge Program is to integrate the activities of the County Health Services Department, County Juvenile Probation Department, the Office of the County Superintendent of Schools, and other departments and community resources in order to address the current deficiencies of health education and health services information available to the adolescent clients of the Contra Costa County Juvenile Justice Corrections system.. This document has been approved by the Department's Contracts and Grants Administrator in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Board's Order of December 1, 1981 (Guidelines for contract preparation and processing, Health Services Department) . The Clerk of the Board should retain the attached copy of the Grant Application and return six certified copies of this Board Order to the Contracts and Grants Unit for submission to The San Francisco Foundation.
