HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 01061987 - 1.4 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: J. 141CHAEL WALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: January 6, 1987 SUBJECT: Approve Contract Change Order No. 3 for the 1986 "C" Overlay Project, Project No. 0662-6R4081-85, Various County and City Streets. Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background & Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: APPROVE Contract Change Order No. 3 and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute it in order to provide for additional quantities of contract items for the 1986 "C" Overlay Project with Bay Cities Paving & Grading Company. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The project contingency funds are sufficient to cover the change order costs. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: The cumulative total of this and previous contract change orders exceeds$25,000, requiring Board approval . Between the time the project was designed and when the actual work started, some pavement areas have deteriorated beyond the original estimates, requiring additional excavation and asphalt concrete. Contract Change Order No. 3 provides for the additional quantities used. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would preclude the payment to the contractor for materials and labor required for the successful completion of the contract.
