Governor Deukmejian's RESOLUTION NO. 90/ 129
1990-91 Budget Cuts to )
Health Programs in
California
WHEREAS, there are currently 5.2 million people in California who
are without adequate medical coverage; and
WHEREAS, public and private health care providers are currently
stretched beyond their means; and
WHEREAS, Governor Deukmejian's 1990-91 budget cuts approximately
and0
million statewide for local public health services for the poor;
and
WHEREAS, the proposed budget cuts in the state Medi-Cal program
will result in decreased federal funding which is dependent upon state
matching funds; and
WHEREAS, Deukmejian's budget proposes to reduce services for poor
people receiving medical care in their homes; and
WHEREAS, Governor Deukmejian is proposing to change the eligibility
guidelines for certain benefits currently covered by Medi-Cal ; and
WHEREAS, the Regional Advisory Committee on the Medically Uninsured
and Underinsured is working to oppose Governor Deukmejian's budget cuts
to health care;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County goes on record against the proposed budget cuts to
health care programs for the poor; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County supports the efforts of the Regional Advisory Committee on
the Medically Uninsured and Underinsured to prevent the Legislature from
agreeing to the proposed cuts.
