SUBJECT: Application Form for Advisory Boards vv/ J
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1 . Approve attached application form for all boards,
committees, and commissions which are advisory to the Board
of Supervisors.
2 . Direct the Clerk of the Board to distribute copies of the
application form to each Supervisor' s office, and other
appropriate locations, and implement its use as soon as
feasible.
3 . Approve the attached letter from the County Administrator to
persons interested in applying for vacancies on advisory
boards, committees and commissions to serve as a cover to
the application form.
4 . Approve the use of the attached Talent Bank Form and direct
the Clerk of the Board to distribute it to all advisory
boards, committees and commissions for completion by members
of such advisory groups.
5 . Remove this item as a referral to our Committee.
BACKGROUND:
On July 21, 1987, the Board of Supervisors referred to our
Committee a letter from the Human Services Advisory Commission
suggesting a revision to the application form presently used for
individuals wishing to apply for membership on various advisory
boards, committees, and commissions. We reviewed this
application form and the letter and Talent Bank Form and feel
that they are an improvement on the existing application form.
The Talent Bank Form can serve as a useful repository of
information when the County is looking for people with special
skills and interests.

The County Board of Supervisors has established advisory boards
and bodies to help inform and advise county government in a large
number of programs serving the people living, working or visiting
our county. Individuals of all backgrounds, training and
education are appointed to the advisory groups. Some are
selected because of their expertise in the subject matter. Some
because they are familiar with needs and feelings of the users of
these programs. Others because they have special skills and
knowledge.
The Board of Supervisors makes appointments from among those who
submit applications. If 'you are interested and live or work in
the county, and have the necessary time, you may wish to submit
an application. If so please do the following:
1. Review the listing of advisory boards, committees and
commissions ( see back of this letter) , and identify
those that you might be interested in seeking appoint-
ment;
2. Complete and submit a separate application for each board to
which you wish to be considered; and
3 . File the completed application with the Clerk of the Board
who will process your application.
Applicants are requested to call the Clerk or the Supervisor of
their District for information regarding current and upcoming
vacancies.
