HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 07171990 - 90/490 (2)THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on July 17, 1990 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers, McPeak, Torlakson & Fanden NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Schroder ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: In the Matter of Providing Workers' Compensation Insurance) For Volunteers of the County' s ) RESOLUTION NO. 90/490 Child Care Development Project ) Building Renovation in Richmond) WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors hereby determines that it would be in the best interest of the County of Contra Costa to provide for workers' compensation insurance for the volunteers, who are not already covered by workers' compensation benefits, of the County' s Child Care Development Project (Building Renovations) in Richmond. WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors hereby approves this exception to the County' s current volunteer program, Administrative Bulletin 321, which provides for out-of-pocket medical costs and fees for volunteers. WHEREAS, the current County Administrative Bulletin provides that volunteers are not considered County employees for purposes of workers' compensation. WHEREAS, it has been deemed appropriate that for this special project that volunteers be considered employees for purposes of workers' compensation pursuant to Labor Code Section 3363 . 5. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County provide workers ' compensation benefits for volunteers of the special project who are not already covered by workers' compensation benefits. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that volunteers who participate in this special project who are not already covered by workers' compensation benefits shall be considered employees of the County for purposes of workers' compensation benefits which shall be provided for through the County' s Workers' Compensation trust fund for the duration of this project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that theauthorization to provide workers' compensation benefits for volunteers under this special. project will in no way reflect upon the County volunteer program as it now stands.
