Lydia Cameron, Chair RESOLUTION NO. 90/435
County Leadership Council )
WHEREAS Lydia Cameron is fust now completing her second year as Chair of United Way's
County Leadership Council in Contra Costa County, and
WHEREAS Lydia Cameron has been active in United Way activities in this County and throughout
the Bay Area since at least 1979, having served on the Agency Relations Division
Committee from 1979 to 1983, as Vice Chair of Volunteer Recruitment from 1983 to
1986, as Chair of the Contra Costa Agency Relations Committee from 1985-1988 and
as a member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Bay Area since 1984,
and
WHEREAS Lydia Cameron is also active as a Board Member of the Child Welfare League of
America, as a Community Advisor for the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay, as
President of the Board ofDirectors of Shelter,Inc. and as Board First Vice President
for Traveler's Aid Internationa4 and
WHEREAS Lydia Cameron has also been active in the American Red Cross of the Bay Area, Bay
Area Community Service, Inc- and Sunny Hills Children's Service, and
WHEREAS 23ie United Way of the Bay Area has recognized Lydia Cameron's outstanding
volunteer contributions to her community by giving her a Volunteer Merit Award at
the Annual Meeting for 1981-82, the Agency Relations Volunteer Award for Contra
Costa County for the 1985-86year, the Lois Towles Ceasar award, the second most
Prestigious honor awarded by the United Way of the Bay Area in 1986-87 and the
MortimerFleishhacker,Jr.award,United Way's highestand mostprestigious honor
in 1988-89,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA
RESOLVED that the Board extends its deepest appreciation to Lydia Cameron for all
of her dedicated work on behalf of those in her community who are less fortunate
than she, and be it further
RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors commends Lydia Cameron for her many years of
community service and especially for having served so successfully as Chair of the
County Leadership Council for the past two years.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 10th day ofJuly, 1990.
