HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 02271990 - 90/110TIE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 9 0/110 Commending Richard Durkin on Attaining the Rank . of Eagle Scout Richard Durkin is a member of Boy Scout Troop #159 of Antioch, California; and VIFIEREAS,Richard joined the ranks of Cub Scouting in 1983 and received his Arrow of Light award before entering the ranks of Boy Scouting, despite months spent in a body cast and wheelchair; and WHEREAS,Richard has served as Senior Patrol Leader for his troop, has been a teacher on the Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense for the adult leadership training staff of the Mt. Diablo Council,has attended the Brownsea Leadership Training Course and will be working as a counselor for,the Brownsea project this summer; and WHEREAS,Richard is a member of the Order of the Arrow; and WHEREAS,as an Eagle Scout project, Richard identified, planned and carried out the refurbishment of older playground equipment in Chichibu, Marchetti and Jacobsen Parks in Antioch, as well as installing the equipment and cement foundations for new barbecue pits at Marchetti Park, thereby providing a cleaner, brighter and safer environment for the many children using these parks; and WHEREAS,at age thirteen, Richard is one of the youngest scouts in East County to earn the rank of Eagle Scout; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY,CALIFORNIA,does hereby congratulate and commend Richard Durkin on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and commends him for his contribution to the betterment of our community; PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 27th day of February, 1990. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors of the date aforesaid.
