1.Call to Order
2.ADOPT the draft bylaws for the Sustainability Commission.
Members and alternates discussed the draft Bylaws and had a number of suggestions
for refining the Bylaws. The matter was tabled until the next meeting so staff can
update the draft Bylaws to reflect member suggestions and consult with the County's
legal counsel.

3.RECEIVE orientation regarding purpose and work of the Sustainability Commission.
The Sustainability Coordinator provided a presentation on the role of the
Sustainability Commission and how it advises the Board of Supervisors. The
presentation also reviewed the County’s Climate Action Plan and key projects,
including the Northern Waterfront Economic Development Initiative, community
choice energy, Adapting to Rising Tides, renewable resource potential study, and
County infrastructure projects such as the new Emergency Operations Center and
new Administration Building.
4.DISCUSS and ADOPT a standing meeting date and time.
The Sustainability Commission determined it will establish a standing meeting date
and time of the fourth Monday of every other month, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., unless
otherwise agreed to modify. Meetings will occur at the offices of the Contra Costa
County Department of Conservation and Development unless the Commissioners
agree to hold the meeting at a different location.

5.ELECT officers for the Sustainability Commission.
The Commission postponed the election of officers to its next meeting, at which time
it will reconsider its Bylaws, which specify the offices and roles for the Sustainability
Commission.
6.PUBLIC COMMENT on any item under the purview of the Commission that is not on
the agenda.
Marti Roach -- Ms. Roach expressed support for the work of the Commission. She
encouraged the Commission members and alternates to ask question and raise issues
that get the County rowing in the same direction on sustainability and climate issues.
Carol Weed -- Ms. Weed asked about flaring at Keller Canyon and composting at
Point Richmond.
Valerie Thurston -- Ms. Thurston asked about the status of recycling; she has heard
that the recycling facility in Antioch is not accepting materials.
7.Adjourn to next meeting date, tentatively scheduled for Monday, July 24, 2017.
