IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter Supporting )
the Health Access Plan
for Affordable Health Care )Resolution 90/ 316
for All Californians
WHEREAS, six million people in California are without access to adequate health
care coverage.; and G
A
WHEREAS, health care services for low-income and impoverished persons have
suffered severe budget cuts and are continually being rationed; and
WHEREAS, infant mortality and. morbidity rates are rising dramatically in the
region and the state; and
WHEREAS, growing numbers of children and adults suffer from fully preventable
diseases and disabilities; and
WHEREAS, the gaps in coverage within Medi Cal and Medi Care weaken delivery of
necessary comprehensive health care services; and
WHEREAS, long-term care and in-home care are increasingly ',unaffordable and
inaccessible for senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, .the many attempts to address this issue legislatively have been
piecemeal and inadequate;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors endorses
the California Health Access Plan as a comprehensive and necessary, approach to
solving our state health care crisis;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors declare June
23rd to be "Health Access bay" in Contra Costa County to publie'ize our local and
statewide health care crisis.
