IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA.
In the Matter of Congratulating )
Carol Breuner Resolution No. : 90/83
Orinda Citizen of the Year, 1990 )
WHEREAS Carol Breuner has been named Orinda ' s fortieth
Citizen of the year; and
WHEREAS Carol Breuner and her husband Don, moved to
Orinda in 1958 where they raised their five children, Chris,
Brynn, Clay, Gretchen and Heidi; and
WHEREAS Carol Breuner volunteered in her children' s
schools , as a member of the Orinda Garden Club and of the Friends
of the Orinda Library; and
WHEREAS Carol Breuner started in business with Orinda
Sports Fitness., which she co-founded with Daphne Stoermer; and
WHEREAS Carol Breuner joined the Orinda Chamber of Commerce
in 1981 and initiated the first of many efforts to unite the
business and residential community in plans to improve Orinda ' s
downtown; and
WHEREAS Carol Breuner was elected president of the Orinda
Chamber of Commerce and increased the tempo of her efforts to
involve citizens , civic groups, government and the Chamber in
projects to revitalize downtown Orinda; and i
WHEREAS Carol Breuner accepted the invitation of the
Orinda Rotary to become one if its first two women members; and
WHEREAS Carol Breuner helped to coordinate and promote
the Orinda Chamber of Commerce ' s Art and Wine Festival, a
most successful community fundraising event for the Berkeley
Shakespeare Festival .
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby CONGRATULATES
Carol Breuner on her selection as Orinda ' s fortieth Citizen of
the Year, COMMENDS Carol Breuner for her generous , quietly
effective donation of her time and organizational talents to
the benefit of the Orinda business community, and EXTENDS to
Carol Breuner its best wishes for much more civic and professional
success.
PASSED and ADOPTED on the sixth day of February, 1990,
by unanimous vote of the Board members present .
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of
Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
