SERVICES AND SHERIFF'S COMMUNICATIONS

Specific Request(s) or Recommendation(s) & Background &
Justification
I. RECOMMENDATION
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the General Services Director to
execute on behalf of the County the First Amendment to the
Architectural Services Agreement, dated January 21, 1986 ,
with Group 4/Architecture, Research, and Planning, Inc. , 457
,Forbes Boulevard, South San Francisco, for Remodeling and
Addition at 50 Glacier Drive, Martinez, for Office of
Emergency Services and Sheriff ' s Communications. The First
Amendment will raise the Fixed Limit of Initial Construction
Contract Cost by $70,195 to reflect increases in the scope of
the work requested by the County.
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT
A. Amending the Fixed Limit of Initial Construction Contract
Cost from $973 ,000 to $1,043 ,195 will increase the
Architect' s fee from $104,597 . 50 to $112,143 . 46, since
the fee is based on a percentage of the Fixed Limit.
There are sufficient funds in the Plant Acquisition
Account to pay for this $7, 545. 96 increase in the
Architect' s fee.

III. REASONS FOR RECOMEENDATIONS/BACKGROUND
A. The Project scope of work has been increased to suit
needs of occupants and requirements of other agencies
having jurisdiction. The increases included platforms
for equipment maintenance, changes in existing doors, a
shower addition, enlargement of water . storage tank,
increase in emergency generator size, additional computer
outlets, and additional trench ducts.
B. These changes in scope of work increased the estimated
cost of construction and the Fixed Limit of Initial
Construction Contract Cost.
