Spooner , Contracts Administrator t-N/ La DATE: February 12, 1987 ray �1' SUBJECT: Approval of FY 1986-87 Novation Contract 424-722-32 with Bi-Bett „7 Corporation for Provision of Alcoholism Program Services r SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I . RECOMMENDED ACTION : Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract 424-722-32 with Bi-Bett Corporation in the amount of $ 1 , 030, 818 for the period July 1 , 1986 through June 30, 1987 for provision of Alcohol Recovery Home/ Social Rehabilitation , Social-Setting Detox , and Detention Facility DUI Information and Referral Service Programs . This document includes a six-month automatic contract extension from June 30, 1987 through December 31 , 1987 in the amount of $515, 400 . II . FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract is fully funded in the Health Services Department Budget for 1986-87 , including a $25 , 129 increase which was provided by the Board of Supervisors for cost-of-living increases (salaries and fringe benefits) for contractor ' s staff and $30, 781 from increased AB 541 Level I DUI Alcohol Education Program fee collections . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND : This contractor has been providing alcoholism program services under an extension of the FY 1985-86 Contract #24-722-29 and Contract Amendment Agreements #24-722-30 and #24-722-31 . Novation Contract #24-722-32 replaces the eight-month extension under the prior contract . These contract services are a vital and important part of the County ' s continuum of alcoholism program services by providing (1 ) Recovery Home/Social Rehabilitation Program [Diablo Valley Ranch and Ozanam Center ] , (2) Social- Setting Detox Program [ Shennum Center] , and (3) Detention Facility DUI Information and Referral Service Program. This document has been approved by the Department ' s Contracts and Grants Administrator in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Board ' s Order of December 1 , 1981 (Guidelines for contract preparation and processing , Health Services Department) .
