Action Requested: Establish the classes of Facilities Trades Supervisor and Lead Steamfitter•
reclassify persons and positions of Mechanical Trades Supervisor #66-162, Electrical Trades
Supervisor #66-178, General Trades Supervisor #66-161,_ and Lead Electrician #66-175 to Facilitie
Trades Supervisor; add 1 Clerk-Beginning Level (typing) ; Proposed Effective Date: ASAP
and cancel the classes of Building Maintenance Manager, and Mechanical/Electrical/General Trades

Establish the class of Facilities Trades Supervisor (GFHE) and allocate to the basic salary
level C5-1983 ($32991'.14010). Reclassify Mechanical Trades Supervisor (GFHC) position #66-162,
Electrical Trades Supervisor (GFHB) position #66-178, General Trades Supervisor (GFHD) position
C_'_466-161, and Lead Electrician (GFTA) position #66-175 to the new class of Facilities
Trades Supervisor, Establish the class of Lead Steamfitter (GFT&) and allocate to the basic
salary level at C3-1934 ($3463-3818). Classify one Clerk-Beginning Level position (JWXA)
at salary level C5-0966 ($1194-1451). Abandon the classifications of Building Maintenance
Manager (GFDC), General Trades Supervisor (GFHD), Mechanical Trades Supervisor (GFHC), and
Electrical Trades Supervisor (GFHB).
Amend Resolution 71/17 establishing positions and resolutions allocating classes to the
Basic/Exempt Salary Schedule, as described above.
Effective: day following Board action.

APPROVAL OF THIS ADJUSTMENT CONSTITUTES A PERSONNEL/SALARY RESOLUTION AMENDMENT.

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff's study confirms that the reorganization of General Services -
Building Maintenance Divsion as proposed will result in a more
effective organization structure to handle the building maintenance
activities resulting in a more efficient means of servicing the
needs of the departments. These changes will also be a cost savings
to the General Services Department . For these reasons, staff
recommends that :
1 ) The class of Facilities Trades Supervisor be established and
allocated to the basic salary schedule at level C-5 1983
(3299-4010) .
2) The persons and positions of Mechanical Trades Supervisor
#66-162, Electrical Trades Supervisor #66-178, General Trades
Supervisor #66-161 , and Lead Electrician #66-175 be reclassified to
Facilities Trades Supervisor .
3) The class of Lead Steamfitter be established and allocated to
the basic salary schedule at level C-3 (3463-3818) . A promotional
examination will be announced within the next month to reclassify
one Steamfitter to the lead position.
4) The classes of Building Maintenance Manager , General Trades
Supervisor , Mechanical Trades Supervisor and Electrical Trades
Supervisor be cancelled .
5) One ( 1 ) Clerk-Beginning level ( typing ) position be added .
