Spooner , Contracts AdministratorVCosta DATE: December 3, 1987 �(' oIJu rly SUBJECT: Approval of FY 1987-88 Novation Contract 124-133-19 with La Cheim School , Inc. to Provide Day Treatment and Schooling Services for Mentally Disturbed Children SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION I . RECOMMENDED ACTION : Approve and authorize the Chair to execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #24-133-19 with La Cheim School , Inc . in the amount of $351 , 872 for the period July 1 , 1987 through June 30 , 1988 for provision of day treatment and schooling services for an ongoing census of at least 18 mentally or emotionally disturbed children. This document includes a six- month automatic contract extension from June 30 , 1988 through December 31 , 1988 in the amount of $175 , 936 . II . FINANCIAL IMPACT: This contract is fully funded in the Health Services Department Budget for FY 1987-88 (Org . 45952 ) , including a budget augmen- tation which was provided by the Board of Supervisors for insurance and program cost increases . The contract payment limit is funded by State Mental Health and County funding. III . REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: This contractor has been providing these mental health day treatment services for children under an automatic extension of the FY 1986-87 Contract 4424-133-18. Novation Contract 4424-133-19 replaces the six-month automatic extension under the prior contract . This contract funds the intensive day treatment , program for troubled children for whom there is no other intervention alter- native . The program maintains an ongoing census of 18 youth and serves approximately 40 minors per year . This contract will also provide the mental health day treatment services which are required by the Individualized Education Plans ( IEPs) for some Special Education Pupils ( SEP) under AB 3632. This document has been approved by the Department ' s Contracts and Grants Administrator in accordance with the guidelines approved by the Board ' s Order of December 1 , 1981 (Guidelines for contract preparation and processing , Health Services Department) .
