HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 11102015 - C.55RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Chief Information Officer, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc., to extend the termination date from October 31, 2015 to October 31, 2016, and increase the payment limit by $100,000 to a new payment limit of $250,000 for continued IBM System Z Mainframe Operating System services as needed by the Department of Information Technology. FISCAL IMPACT: As budgeted under Fiscal Year 2015/2016, Org 1060 BACKGROUND: The County uses the IBM System Z mainframe operating system on its mainframe servers. During the term of the proposed contract extension, Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc., will continue to work with County employees, under the direction of the Chief Information Officer of the Department of Information Technology, to provide (on an as-needed basis) IBM System Z mainframe operating system support including, without limitation, general trouble-shooting assistance, application support, and system software administration. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) In accordance with Administrative Bulletin 605.3, service contracts exceeding $100,000 require the approval of the Board of Supervisors. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Mainframe production job processing can impact the Courts Systems, Law and Justice Systems, Property Tax System, and the Finance System. The County's business productivity and finance systems could be negatively impacted if the Mainframe malfunctioned and we were unable to correct the issue; the implications could be severe.
