MICHAEL 19ALFORD, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR DATE: December 15, 1987 SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Change Order No. 26 .for the Appian Way Widening Project in El Sobrante, Project No. 0662-6R4177-83. Specific Requests or Recommendations & Background & Justification RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director to execute Contract Change Order No. 26 in the Amount of $56,775.42 to compensate the contractor, Bay Cities Paving and Grading for increases in contract quantities. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contingency funds are sufficient to cover the cost of this change order. The project is funded jointly by Federal Aid Urban funds , the City of Pinole, and County road funds. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION/BACKGROUND: Work unforseen on the original plans was necessary to complete the project. Contract Change Order No. 26 defines the changes eligible for payment. CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The lack of approval would preclude the payment to the contractor for work required for the successful completion of the contract.
