Subject:Reclassify three (3) Paralegal (2Y7A) positions and its incumbents to Legal Assistant (2Y7B)
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
Assistant in order to align their job duties and compensation with a more appropriate job description. The Public
Defender's Office has experienced changes in attorney assignments within the department and we now require the
Paralegals to take on more responsibility to meet the need of the department changes. For example, more direct
support to attorneys during court proceedings such as arraignments and other specialty calendars. A similar
reclassification request was approved for six (6) positions in September of 2014.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, employees will continue performing higher level duties without being properly
compensated.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact.
