HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08182015 - C.46RECOMMENDATION(S):
ADOPT Resolution No.. 2015/313 to abolish four Environmental Health Technician (VL7A) positions (represented),
as specified in Attachment A, and layoff one employee in the Health Services Department effective August 31, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Elimination of these positions will help meet the costs of the Solid Waste program. (Cost Savings)
BACKGROUND:
The Solid Waste Program in Environmental Health Services is currently overstaffed. The majority of the work in this
program must be performed by a registered environmental health specialist. Environmental Health Technicians have
a specific scope and cannot perform all of the duties required to maintain this program. The Department has made the
necessary adjustments to reassign individuals to other environmental programs, however there is still a surplus of
positions that are no longer needed in the division. Therefore, the department is recommending the elimination of four
technician positions, and laying off the incumbent in the one position that is filled.
