Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Purchase
Order amendment with R-Computer to add $720,000 for a new total not exceed $1,459,000 for the purchase of the
Hewlett Packard personal computer systems, mobile devices, printers and computer hardware accessories with no
change in the original term from September 19, 2014 through June 30, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.
BACKGROUND:
This funding provides for personal computer upgrades for 900 computer systems. In addition, funding will also
provide for computer peripherals including printers, scanners, laptops, and mobile devices. This computer equipment
is an essential part of providing computer technology for all Health Services Divisions including Hospital and
Clinics, Behavioral Health, Contra Costa Health Plan, Public Health, Environmental Health, Information
Technology, and Office of the Director/Finance.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, Health Services will have many computers that are outdated and no longer
supported by Microsoft posing network security vulnerability. In addition, outdated systems won’t get the necessary
upgrades to run ccLink electronic health record (EHR).
