SUBJECT: Approval of Standard Agreement 1129-203-30 with the State Department of Health
Services (State 1186-89236) for Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food
Program (WIC)
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
I. RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Chairman to execute on behalf of the County, Standard
Agreement 1129-203-30 (State 1186-89236) with the State Department of Health Services
in the amount of $346,301 for the period October 1, 1986, - September 30, 1987 for
the Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) .
II. FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement by the State will result in $346,301 of State funding
for the Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children. Sources of
funding are as follows:
Federal funding through the State Department of Health Services: $346,301
County Share: Personnel $12,464
Health Services Overhead (Fixed) 38,400
County (A-87) Overhead (Memo only) 21,600
Rent, Telephone, Equipment, Supplies, Mileage 61,150
133,614
TOTAL PROGRAM $479,915
Health Services overhead is included in the FY 1986-87 Public Health Budget. No
additional County funds required.
III. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND:
For over ten years the County has participated in the WIC Program with the State.
This is a mandated program under the Community Health Services Division of the
State Department of Health Services. On November 19, 1985 the Board approved
Contract 1129-203-28 with the State for continuation of the Supplemental Food
Program for Women, Infants and Children with a payment limit of $334,114, and on
May 20, 1986 approved Funding Application 1129-203-29 for continuation of the
program through September 30, 1987. This standard agreement is the result of that
funding application.
This contract has been approved as to legal form by County Counsel's Office.
The Board Chairman should sign nine copies of the contract, eight of which should
then be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit for submission to State
Department of Health Services .
