HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07282015 - C.16RECOMMENDATION(S): AUTHORIZE payment of charges to Lind Marine Inc., a salvage company, incurred in connection with the sinking of a Sheriff's vessel on July 1, 2015, in the amount of $36,910. FISCAL IMPACT: Cost for release of vessel will be funded through the Internal Services Funds as part of the vessel recovery and storage expense. BACKGROUND: On July 1, 2015 the Sheriff's 2007 Moose Boat valued at $1 million sank in the Delta. The loss was reported on July 2, 2015 to the Navigators Insurance Company. The County's obligation to the Navigators is to work with due diligence and dispatch to mitigate any loss. Toward that end, Lind Marine Inc, was retained to recover the vessel, move it to storage and perform basic services to prevent further damage. The charge for those services amounted to $36,910. Beginning on July 11, 2015 storage charges are accruing at the rate of $500 per day. Lind Marine will not allow the vessel to be moved from its premises until their charges are paid.
