FISCAL IMPACT: No fiscal impact. Report only. BACKGROUND: The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (District) provides fire, rescue, and emergency medical incident response services within the City of San Pablo (City), which is located within the District's boundaries. Until May 1, 2015, Fire Station 70, located in the City, was staffed by one three-person engine company. ATTESTED: July 21, 2015 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: June McHuen, Deputy cc: D.5 To:Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Board of Directors From:Jeff Carman, Chief, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Date:July 21, 2015 Contra Costa County Subject:Fire Station 70 Squad Housing Structure Update BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) all reasonable costs associated with that housing (with the exception of upgrades to the current structure and emergency generator). The agreement does not specify a funding limit for implementation of the squad housing design, but the City has indicated a commitment to provide up to $400,000 in funding for the construction of an additional housing structure. In June 2015 the District received an estimate from the architect indicating the cost of the additional space would exceed the $400,000 earmarked by the City. In response the City has reiterated its commitment to contributing $400,000. The District and the City have meetings scheduled to discuss the issue and determine the best path forward. Squad 70 has been a welcome addition to West County incident response resources. Both the District and the City are determined to make this program work and we are confident both agencies will work through this issue quickly and effectively. An update will be provided at the next available Fire Board meeting. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The report will not be accepted by the Board. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: No impact.
