HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212015 - C.103RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-575-3 with Health Career College, an educational institution, to provide supervised field instruction at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers to phlebotomist students, for the period from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018. FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: The purpose of this agreement is to provide Health Career College and phlebotomist students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. The Health Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, benefitting from the students’ services to patients. On December 11, 2012, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-575-2 with Health Career College for the provision of supervised fieldwork instruction experience with Health Services, for the period from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015. Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #26-575-3 will allow Health Career College students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience, at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers through June 30, 2018. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health.
