APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Bat Fire Protection
Systems, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00 to provide fire sprinkler repair and certification services, for
the period June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2018, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This cost is to be funded through Facilities Services’ Fiscal Year 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 maintenance budget.
(100% General Fund)
BACKGROUND:
Public Works Facilities Services (Facilities) is responsible for maintaining and certifying fire sprinkler systems at all
County facilities. Facilities staff is not certified to conduct five (5) year fire sprinkler certifications. Since these
certifications are required, we historically sublet them to outside vendors. There are also several large scale
maintenance projects that Facilities expects to complete this year. As bid on Bidsync No. 1503-128, Bat Fire
Protection Systems was one of three vendors awarded this work. This request is for a three (3) year contract.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, fire sprinkler repair and certification services with Bat Fire Protections Systems, Inc.,
will be discontinued.
