HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07212015 - C.56RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Advocacy, Respect and Commitment Care Parent Network, in an amount not to exceed $102,551 for the Family Empowerment Project for the period July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. FISCAL IMPACT: $102,551: 100% County (County local fines and fees, birth certificate funds). BACKGROUND: The proposed contract is the result of the the Family and Children's Trust Committee (FACT), Request for Proposals (RFP) #1143. FACT, an advisory group to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) was established by the BOS in 1982 to identify strategies and implement programs to improve services to prevent child abuse and neglect in Contra Costa County. Advocacy, Respect and Commitment Care Parent Network will provide comprehensive services to families with children ages 6 to 22 years with special needs and/ or developmental disabilities with at risk for child abuse and/or neglect. Services will include but not limited to home visitation, emotional support, resource coordination and education. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Services designed to empower families of children with special needs, ages 6-22 years, in Contra Costa County could be curtailed. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports three of the five community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card, 1) "Children Ready and Succeeding in School", 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood", and 4) "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing" by empowering families of children with special needs.
