From: Web Beadle Subject: Mental Health Supervisory Positions
Department Personnel Officer
We have submitted previous requests to establish several specialized supervisory
classes and reclassify staff positions to those supervisory classes. This is to
expand those requests to request that 7 additional supervisory positions be added
at the same time.
Our ultimate plan is 15 for the Mental Health Unit supervisory positions. Five of
those positions now exist and 3 will be established by reclassification. We have
concluded that it is appropriate to include the 7 additional positions so the plan
can be formally adopted at one time. The plan will then be implemented gradually,
as examinations can be completed and appointments made.
The increased salary expenditures will be absorbed by the currently budgeted funds;
no additional allocation is requested. Further, we expect to make promotional
appointments to most of these positions so, as appointments are made, the vacated
positions will be cancelled. There will, therefore, be no ultimate increase in
staffing in the department.
We are aware that this is a different approach than we originally discussed with
you, so we are available at your convenience to explain the changes.
