APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with
Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa in an amount not to exceed $212,667, to continue to provide long term care
ombudsman services to seniors for the period July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No County Costs: 100% Federal - $212,667 Older Americans Act Title IIIB (CFDA #93.044) and Title VIIA (CFDA
#93.042)
BACKGROUND:
Ombudsman Services of Contra Costa provides long-term care ombudsman services for adults including mediation
and conciliation services, creation of Family Councils for support of families of long term care residents, report
investigation of physical abuse of all dependent adult and elder residents of long term care facilities, education and
training of senior’s rights, benefits, and entitlements. (#40-009-46)
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Seniors in Contra Costa County will not receive the assistance of Ombudsman Services.
