This position is fully funds under our new contract with the State Department of Mental Health. As this position entails the provision of psychotherapy to mentally disordered clients, it will require licensure as either a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker or Marriage, Family and Child Counselor under the State of California, Board of Behavioral Science Examiners. Also, since the CONREP program serves a population that is unique in the problems which they present and the skills necessary for treating such clients, this position will need to- be flagged for the Forensic Specialist requirements (MOD - CONREP). Listed below are the primary duties to be assigned to this position: 1 . Provide supervision as well as individual and group psychotherapy to a case- load of between 12 and 20 clients released on outpatient status pursuant to Section 1604 of the Penal Code. - 2. Serve as case manager for this caseload. The case management function includes placement in out-of-home residential facilities, home visits, con- sultation with other providers as well as family members related to the client, and crisis intervention services. 3. Submit required reports to the court, including quarterly reports, recommen- dations for renewal of outpatient status, and requests for revocation. 4. Conduct evaluations of judicially committed patients referred by the courts for possible release on outpatient status. Such evaluations include review of all relevant court and psychiatric documents, interview with the patient, and transmission of a full written evaluation to the court. 5. Participate in weekly staff meetings of the Forensic Mental Health Unit. On a periodic basis, present annual assessment summaries on individual clients being served. 7. Complete all required reports and paperwork associated with the above duties. 8. Participate in periodic reviews of patients judicially committed to State Hospital programs. This position is funded for the full fiscal year 1986-87. Board Action regarding our over-all contract as well as this specific position is expected to occur on November 18. I hope that we can begin recruitment for this new position soon after the board hearing, since our staff is under significant pressures given the recent increases in our caseload as well as the public safety considerations involved in supervising these clients.
