HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 07072015 - C.115RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#74–099–13 with John Dawdy, Esq., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $156,000, to sit as the
certification review hearing officer for patients involuntarily confined by County, for the period from July 1, 2015
through June 30, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Mental Health Realignment. (No Rate Increase)
BACKGROUND:
Psychiatric patients who have been involuntarily confined have a legal right to a hearing to determine whether they
meet the criteria for continued detention and, in some cases, whether they lack the capacity to refuse or consent to
anti-psychotic medications. The certification review hearing officer conducts these hearings, which are mandated by
law. On June 25 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #74–099–12 with John Dawdy, Esq., for the
period from July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015, to sit as the certification review hearing officer for patients
involuntarily confined by County. Approval of Contract #74–099–13 will allow the Contractor to continue providing
services through June 30, 2017.
