APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with
Senior Service America, Inc., to pay County an amount not to exceed $543,406 for the Senior Community Services
Employment Program, a subsidized employment program for low income seniors, for the period July 1, 2015 through
June 30, 2016. (100% Federal) (County match) $70,499).
FISCAL IMPACT:
$543,406: County to receive an amount not to exceed $543,406 from Senior Service America, Inc. grant, 100%
Federal (County match $70,499).
BACKGROUND:
The grant funding from Senior Service America, Inc., for the Senior Community Service Employment Program will
promote and facilitate the enrollment of Contra Costa County low income seniors over 55 years of age with
most-in-need characteristics, placement in subsidized employment to gain necessary skills and training to become
"job ready" for unsubsidized placement. Most-in-need characteristics are veterans status, homelessness or at-risk of
homelessness , disability, English as a second language, limited literacy, frailty, and low employment prospects.
