FISCAL IMPACT: Savings to General Fund - $71,871.21 annually Cancel Deputy Sheriff Criminalist III $295,365.03 Add Forensic Supervisor $223,493.76 Savings to General Fund $71,871.21 Retirement share of costs will decrease by $64,620 annually. Livingston, Sheriff-Coroner Date:July 7, 2015 Contra Costa County Subject:Add one (1) Forensic Supervisor (6CHB) position and cancel one (1) Deputy Sheriff Criminalist III (6DTB) position #6718 in the Forensics Division BACKGROUND: The Forensic Division's long range strategic planning requires an additional Forensic Supervisor in order to continue to maintain the requirements to meet accreditation in the Forensic Science disciplines. The Deputy Sheriff Criminalist III has been promoted, leaving position number #6718 vacant. Canceling the vacant position and adding the Forensic Supervisor enhances the department's ability to deliver the highest caliber of service to the community. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, it would impair the functionality of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Forensic Division, and negatively impact the public health and safety of the citizens of Contra Costa County.
