ACCEPT Presentation on 2015 Fire Season

No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
The 2015 fire season is upon us. Due to persistent drought conditions, the frequency and hazards related to vegetation
fires will be significant. The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is preparing for this risk both by taking
actions to prevent and mitigate exterior hazards and having the resources ready to respond when vegetation fires
occur. These actions will save lives and property. The attached presentation will provide a brief summary about these
programs. The presentation will be followed by a short question and answer period.

4The primary purposeof the District's Exterior Hazard Division is to limitthe potential sourcesoffuelfor fire through the abatementof combustible rubbish and vegetation.A Fire Prevention Technician and Fire Prevention Specialist notice and inspect over 1,000 properties each year to ensure they comply with District abatement standards.If necessary, the District will place a lien on properties and bring in a contractor to ensure hazards are mitigated.
