HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06092015 - C.178RECOMMENDATION(S): (1) REJECT all bids received on March 12, 2015 for the above project, and ORDER any bid bonds posted by the bidders to be exonerated and any checks or cash submitted for security to be returned. (2) AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to re-advertise for bids for the above project. FISCAL IMPACT: Funding for this project is from the County General Fund. BACKGROUND: The roof on the building that houses the Sheriff’s Property and Evidence Services at 2099 Arnold Industrial Way, Concord, was identified in the County Facilities Life-Cycle Investment Program report as being in poor condition and in need of replacement. The roof has begun leaking in a few spots. The project scope includes the removal and replacement of existing roofing, flashing, drains, and skylights. The subject project was previously approved by the Board of Supervisors, plans and specifications were filed with and approved by the Board, bids were invited by the Public Works Director, and Addendum No. 1 was issued. The general prevailing rates of wages, which shall be the minimum rates paid on this project, have been filed with the Clerk of the Board and copies will be made available to any interested party upon request. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If re-advertising of the project is not authorized, the building’s roof will continue to deteriorate and develop more leaks, causing damage to the building interior, resulting in costly repairs in the future.
