BACKGROUND: The committee provides input to the County and the cities of the County on bicycle projects for Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds to construct bicycle/pedestrian projects and also provides advice to cities and the County on bicycle planning matters. The committee consists of sixteen members. One representative from the Mayor's Conference, the East Bay Regional Park District and the bicycle industry. The California Highway Patrol and Superintendent of Schools serve as resources only. The qualifications for membership on the committee are to live or work in the County. Each representative should designate an alternate who must also live or work in the County. Supervisor Andersen has advertised the District 2 vacancy, received an application, met with the applicant and feels that Mr. Umont will serve the district and the county well. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: The District 2 Seat will remain vacant. CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: None.
