Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department to execute an amendment
to Purchase Order #53110 with Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc., to add $85,000 for a new total of $285,000 for reagents
and supplies to perform chemistry and microbiology testing for the Clinical Laboratory at the Contra Costa Regional
Medical Center (CCRMC), with no change in the original term of July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funding is included in the Hospital Enterprise Fund I Budget.
BACKGROUND:
CCRMC’s Clinical Laboratory uses Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. reagents, various controls, methicillin resistant
staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) media, and supplies for chemistry, urinalysis and microbiology departments. These
are used to perform tests on patients for various conditions and to check for infections.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, the CCRMC Clinical Laboratory will not be able to perform patient testing,
thus impacting patient safety and health.
