HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05122015 - C.31RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to apply for and accept
funding in an amount not to exceed $45,000 from the Hedge Funds Cares Grant, focused on the prevention and
treatment of child abuse, for community based visitation services for the period July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.
FISCAL IMPACT:
County to receive an amount not to exceed $45,000 from the Hedge Funds Care Grant.
BACKGROUND:
The Hedge Fund Care Grant is focused on child abuse prevention and treatment. The funds will allow Contra Costa
County to support an ongoing program of child abuse intervention with a target population of youth ages 0-18 years
who are dependent on the County (per California Welfare and Institutions Code section 300) and the families from
which they have been removed. The project would observe parent and child interactions during scheduled supervised
visitation(s) with goals to increase access to supervised visitation, decrease trauma associated with separation, and
increase parenting skills.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without funding, services for community based family visitation services would be curtailed.
