HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04212015 - C.19RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE Appropriation Adjustment No.5057 authorizing new revenue in the amount of $321,400 for the Law
Enforcement Training Center and appropriating it for the purchase of seven training vehicles.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action increases revenue and appropriations by $321,400.
BACKGROUND:
Currently, the Sheriff's Fleet consists of approximately 400+ vehicles of many different types. These vehicles are
used to meet the operational goals and objectives of the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff. Within the
Internal Service Fund (ISF), vehicles reaching a pre-designated mileage mark or in need of excessive repairs are
replaced as a matter of course.
Non-ISF designated vehicles are vehicles gifted, procured through DRMO (Military Surplus), or purchased using
funds from awarded Grants or other departmental sources (General Fund).
Some of these Non-ISF vehicles are depreciated within the County's General Fund; these funds are available through
appropriation adjustment to be used toward the purchase of replacement vehicles. Most Non-ISF vehicles have no
depreciation value and thus it is incumbent upon the unit to request funding in order to continue programs. In the due
course of normal business, it is sometimes necessary to add vehicles to the existing fleet to accommodate an increase
of personnel and move forward with new programs and services.
