Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Unpaid
Student Training Agreement #72-074 with Regents of the University of California, on behalf of University of
California San Francisco , an educational institution, to provide supervised field instruction in County’s Public
Health Division to physical therapy students, from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2020.
FISCAL IMPACT:

BACKGROUND:
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Regents of the University of California, on behalf of University of
California San Francisco, physical therapy students with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with
applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for
students is considered to be an

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The Health Services Department can provide the
requisite field education, while at the same time, benefitting from the students’ services to patients.
Approval of Unpaid Student Training Agreement #72-074 will allow Regents of the University of California, on
behalf of University of California San Francisco students to receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience, in
County’s Public Health Division, through December 31, 2020.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, the students will not receive supervised fieldwork instruction experience in
County’s Public Health Division.
