Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee, to execute, on behalf of the County, Contract
#26-847-21 with Michael S. Baker, M.D., a self-employed individual, in an amount not to exceed $345,000, to
provide general surgery services at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers, for the
period from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is funded 100% by Enterprise Fund I. (No rate increase)
BACKGROUND:
On February 11, 2014, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract #26-847-20 with Michael Baker, M.D., for the
period from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2014, for the provision of general surgery services for Contra
Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Health Centers (CCRMC).
Approval of Contract #26-847-21 will allow Contractor to continue providing general surgery services, including
acting as the medical director of General Surgery at CCRMC, through December 31, 2017.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this contract is not approved, patients requiring professional general surgery services at CCRMC will not have
access to Contractor’s services, which may result in a reduction in the overall levels of service to the community.
