Barbara Brown upon her ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/642
Retirement from the Richmond )
Police Department )
WHEREAS Barbara Brown and her husband Sylvester moved
to the Bay Area in 1955 where they started their family, which
now consists of three sons and a daughter, four grandsons and one
granddaughter; and
WHEREAS Barbara' s family ties reach far and wide and
encompass many relatives that she has adopted; and
WHEREAS Barbara is a devout Christian whose life
exemplifies her Christian beliefs by serving her fellow man and
being totally committed to her church family at the Christ Chapel
Pentecostal Community Church; and
WHEREAS Barbara began her career with the Richmond
Police Department in 1965 as a community liaison person, becoming
the City of Richmond' s first Police Community Relations Aide in
1967 ; and
WHEREAS "BB" , as she is affectionately known, has
received many letters of commendation for services rendered above
and beyond her normal responsibility, including her work with the
Christmas Basket Program for needy families started in 1974 ;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of Contra Costa County that Barbara Brown is COMMENDED for her
dedicated service to the Richmond Police Department, which is
greatly appreciated as is her devotion to the community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County CHARGES Barbara Brown with relaxing and enjoying
her retirement years with the knowledge that her contributions and
sacrifices for her community will be long remembered.
PASSED on October 28 , 1986 by unanimous vote of the
Board members present.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and
