THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA T.5
Adopted this Order on October 28 , 1986 , by the following vote:

SUBJECT: Presentation by the President, Municipal Court Judges
Association and the Marshal , and the Sheriff-Coroner
Regarding Their Proposals for Consolidation of
Court-Related Services
The Board on October 14, 1986 continued to this time the
presentation by the President of the Municipal Court Judges
Association, the Marshal and the Sheriff-Coroner with respect to
their proposals for consoldiation under either the Sheriff or the
Marshal of Court-related services.
The following people appeared to speak:
Carol L. Lerner, 1777 Botelho Drive, Suite 265 , Walnut
Creek;
Don Christen, 820 Main Street, Martinez, Executive Vice
President Contra Costa Taxpayers Association presented a written
statement;
Charles Myhre, 35 Creekside, Antioch, 1985-86 Grand Jury;
Nanette Lamb, 1964 Nicolette Court, Martinez, 1985-86
Grand Jury;
Richard K. Rainey, Sheriff-Coroner, Contra Costa County;
Fred Hagen, California State Sheriff' s Association Civil
Procedures Committee;
Lt. Donna Irwin, Commander, Sheriff' s Civil Bureau, -.Contra
Costa County;
Jim Hatchell, Contra Costa County Sheriff' s Office,
Martinez, representing the Deputy Sheriff' s Association;
The following people left speaker cards on October 14 ,
1986 , but did not appear to speak on this date :
Jim Morrison, 2980 Railroad Avenue, Pittsburg;
Kenneth R. Brans , 924 Main Street, Martinez representing
Turner, Huguet & Brans;
Marc Peppard, 3615 Bissell, Richmond, representing the
Contra Costa County Bar Association, also left a written statement;
The Board discussed the matter.
IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the matter of the proposed
consolidation of court-related services in either the
Sheriff-Coroner or the Marshal' s office is REFERRED to a special
committee consisting of Chairman Powers, two Superior Court Judges
and two Municipal Court Judges, to discuss and report to the Board
before December 31 , 1986 , and the County Administrator is REQUESTED
to analyze testimony and continue to give technical support.
