Approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the Health Services Department, to execute a Blanket
Purchase Order with Universal Hospital Services, Inc, for $1,000,000 for the rental of medical devices at Contra
Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) from January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funding is included in the Enterprise Fund I budget.
BACKGROUND:
CCRMC rents beds and other products on a regular basis. Universal Hospital Services, Inc. provides competitive
pricing through the Novation Group Purchasing contract. It is more cost effective to rent
rather than purchase some medical products.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this Purchase Order is not approved, the cost of renting medical devices will increase and the availability of rented
medical devices will decrease. In addition, if CCRMC has to buy some of these products it will cost a great deal more.
