ATTESTED: December 9, 2014 David Twa, County Administrator and Clerk of the Board of Supervisors By: Chris Heck, Deputy cc: C. 23 To:Board of Supervisors From:William Walker, M.D., Health Services Date:December 9, 2014 Contra Costa County Subject:Add and Cancel a permanent full-time position in the Health Services Department BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) Ambulatory Care environment. The Pharmacy Department plans to expand to other disease state management projects in the near future to optimize medication management and reduce the hospital readmit rates. In addition, the regulatory demands on the Pharmacy Department have been tremendously increasing to a degree that current administrative staff is not able to keep up with the changes and expectations to meet all required compliance. This Assistant Director will not only provide administrative oversight in the aforementioned clinics but will also be in the supervisory role in the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy operations as well as all clinical environments. The Clinical/Drug Information Coordinator has been vacant since October of 2009 and the Department has determined that an Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services will more appropriately meet the administrative needs of the Pharmacy Department. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If this action is not approved, the Department will not have adequate administrative staff in the Pharmacy Department of the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and its Health Centers and may adversely impact regulatory compliance and patient care outcomes.
